The Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) was meant to be our beacon of hope, promising to alleviate our water woes. Yet, all too often, it falters, leaving us high and dry as maintenance issues plague its operations. What's more, the burden of these expenses disproportionately falls upon the shoulders of Leander taxpayers, while neighboring cities escape unscathed.

Enough is enough. As a candidate for the City Council, I am committed to tackling this crisis head-on. It's time to roll up our sleeves and renegotiate the contracts that bind us to unreliable solutions. We must demand fairness, ensuring that the financial burden is equitably shared among all parties involved.

But we cannot stop there. True resilience lies in collaboration. I will work tirelessly to forge partnerships with our neighboring cities, seeking long-term, sustainable solutions that can weather any storm. While public transportation is undeniably a vital service for our community, it is imperative that we demand transparency and accountability in how taxpayer dollars are allocated.

It is unacceptable that Leander residents are shouldering an exorbitant burden, paying an average of $244,000 per rider for CAP METRO services. This staggering figure raises serious questions about the fairness and efficiency of our current agreement. As your representative on the City Council, I refuse to accept this status quo.

My opponent may tout her involvement with CAP METRO and claim to bring tax dollars back to our city, but let's not be deceived by empty promises. True leadership requires more than just funneling taxpayer dollars into the pockets of private institutions. It demands rigorous oversight and a commitment to ensuring that every dollar is spent wisely and equitably.
